Announcements From DG Tom

Membership: Our [District 5100] membership numbers are up nicely. Through December, our total membership gain is 68… Remember, positive membership growth is the only mandatory to achieve a Presidential Citation.

Foundation Giving & Red Wing Society: [District 5100] giving to the RI Foundation is up 48% over last year. I ask that each of you continue to ask your Rotarians to make your club a 100% giving club. The Red Wing Society is focused more on having everyone participate with a $100.00 contribution than to seek one or two members who can contribute substantial funds. We love our big donors but my thrust is to have everyone on board. Mary and I will make our contribution this month in anticipation of the overall success of the program in the District.

New address for all contributions to the RI Foundation. The address is: The Rotary Foundation, 14280 Collections Center Drive, Chicago, Illinois, 60693. The new donation form is 123 EN. This form has the new address and also the new telephone number, 1-866 976 8279. Donations done on line will reflect in your record immediately.

Available District Funds:  …We have only spent about half of our available District Designated Funds and less than 25% of our District Simplified Grants Funds. Each club has until March 31st, to submit a matching grant project, get it approved by the District Grants Committee and into the RI Foundation for approval. The deadline for the submission of District Simplified Grants is also March 31st

District Web Site. …Please … go to the web site and forward suggestions for making the site better. One click on the events link at the top of the page will give you what District Events are scheduled.  Right below the District Events, individual clubs can list their events. Work with webmaster Ray and together we will have an excellent information tool.

District Golf Tournament (during District Conference in Salem, May 3): For the last several years the tournament has been cancelled for lack of sign up. This year, we hope to have 36 four person teams sign up. The event will be at Oak Knoll, 10 minutes west of Salem on Thursday May 3rd. The registration form is on the web. I can’t think of a better way to practice Rotary Fellowship, than an afternoon of golf. The winning club team will receive huge recognition at the conference. Sandbaggers must have been initiated into your club prior to teeing off.

The Rotary International Convention, Salt Lake City, June 17-20: Everyone should experience at least one Rotary International Convention. This coming year, the convention is nearby. Make plans now…
