Group Study Exchange Opportunity

Hey gang, just got this from District. It is another great opportunity to build Rotary and create Rotarians:

Dear Rotarians,

Governor Dave Jay and I ask for your help – please find a few young people – and invite them to apply for fabulous exchanges with So. Korea or Argentina.

Nearly all expenses are paid/provided by Rotary – airfare, lodging, ground transportation, most food and drink.
Team members are hosted in homes of Rotarians for most of the 4 week exchange.
There will be vocational exchanges with people in their occupations, and a cultural exchange they will not soon forget.
They will be taught to read, write and converse in Korean or Spanish.
They learn the geography, economy, history, religions and culture of the country and region they visit.
And learn lots about Rotary and our District.

Applicants must be 25-40 years of age, live or work in the District. And not be Rotarians, or lineal descendants of an active Rotarain; they can be employees of a Rotarian.

ROTARY: Carroll Anderson

Fellow Rotarians,

You may remember PDG Laurie Carlson-Anderson as being a close friend of our own Sam Pierce’s family.  Please read on for sad news on the passing of her husband, Carroll.  ~KNS

Dear Rotarians,

It is with much sadness that I forward the message below on to you. It was received here at the District Office on Wednesday Jun 20th. Carroll Anderson, husband of PDG Laurie Carlson-Anderson passed away on Tuesday evening with PDG Laurie by his side. I have spoken to Laurie today and she is doing well despite the circumstances. Laurie is planning on having a Celebration of Life for Carroll in July in the Portland area and will advise us of the details as the time draws near. She will be having a Celebration of Life in the Seattle area on Friday June 29th, at the Meydenbauer Bay Yaucht Club at 1pm. She has said that she does not want anyone to feel obligated to attend as she feels this location is out of the way. I am sure you will all join with me in thoughts and prayers for Laurie during this difficult time.

Dearest Friends:  Tonight at 7:30PM Carroll passed away.  He was sleeping peacefully and his two children and myself were with him.  We are thankful that he is now in a better place but so sad to lose him.  I will let you know further details when I know more tomorrow.  Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers and support.  JR is flying here tonight from Portland to be with Carrolls family and myself.  Love, Laurie

Club membership chairs, officers and interested Rotarians are urged to attend. ROTARY Saturday Morning: Clean Fun!

Fellow Rotarians,

A reminder to all: You are invited to our Roadside Clean-up Party!

I hope to see you this Saturday (June 2nd), 9:30 am, at the Visitors
Bureau in Seaview.

Plan on 1-1/2 to 2 hours.

I will furnish the Sign-in/Sign-out Sheet, Vests, Hardhats, Bags and
Road Signs.

Participation counts as a meeting make up and is our commitment as a
club. So, come one, come all and invite your friends and family!
Let's make the first thing visitors see coming into town this summer
be a clean roadway.

YIRS,

Keith
