Dictionary Project
Each year, our club purchases dictionaries and gifts them to every 4th Grader in the Ocean Beach and Naselle School Districts. Here are some photos from this year’s deliveries.
Christmas Angels Golf Tournament

Players: Frank Breckenridge, Mike Nichols, John Edmunson, Lon Hill, Jim Eaton, Sondra Eaton, John Thompson, Jamay Larsen, Jeff Stewart, Don Parsons. Not shown: Candy Cullen
Early numbers are in and it looks like our Golf Tournament raised over $1,000.00 for the Christmas Angels! Thanks to Don Parsons and Dick Fisher for all their work in putting it together, to all the Rotarians who helped, and especially to Jim and Sondra of Peninsula Golf, without whom the event would not have taken place.
It turned out to be a soggy day, bringing out only 15 players, but all were able to play between showers and stay dry, having a great time along the way.
The winners:
- 1st Place: Jeff Stewart & John Edmunson
- 2nd Place: Lon Hill & John Thompson
- 3rd Place: Don Parsons & Vinnie Ciariamella
Christmas Angels Golf Tournament
The Christmas Angels program provides moderately-priced gifts to disadvantaged youth. Local banks put up Christmas trees each season, which are adorned with angels that have their Christmas wishes on them. Patrons of the banks select angels, purchase gifts, and put them beneath the tree, wrapped and labeled for the child.
Unfortunately, not all the angels are chosen from the tree, so Rotary raises funds to purchase those gifts so that no child will go without on Christmas morning. In addition to fund raising, the club advertises and then puts together a call center for those wishes to be phoned in. We wrap presents that we purchase and that come back to the banks unwrapped.
This outstanding program was created and run by the Long Beach Grange for many years. When the Grange had to let go of the program, Rotary stepped in to fill the void.

Rotary Celebrates Local Seniors
Loretta Fink, celebrating her 78th birthday, was crowned queen and Robert Koskela, celebrating his 81st birthday, was crowned king at the September 21st Peninsula Senior Activity Center Ice Cream Social that was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Southwest Pacific County. Rotary is a wonderful organization that is always doing good for the community. Thank you “Rotary” for making this celebration special! Rotary Volunteers– President Dick Fisher, Rtn. Casey Kellar, Rtn. Lesley Ferguson and Sue McCloud.
You do not have to be a member of the senior center to come to the ice cream socials on the third Monday of each month. Children are welcome. If it is your birthday month, there is no charge for your cake and ice cream; otherwise it is just $1.

A Sad Farewell
Our prayers and support go out to the daughters, friends and family of Rotarian Lisa Bonney. As Lisa said on her FaceBook profile, “live, laugh, love, life is too short for anything less.“ You are missed, Lisa.

The Rotary Club of Southwest Pacific County (beachrotary.com) is not only sponsoring the event but they will also be on hand to help out too! Rotarians are known for doing something good for someone else. Their motto is to carry out humanitarian service, promote high ethical standards, and work for international understanding and peace. Come meet some of our local Rotarians this Monday and enjoy an Ice Cream Social! A dollar donation is suggested. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend this and all fundraising events at PSAC.”
