Thoughts on District Conference

By Deb Treusdell 503-739-2030, Rotary Club of Seaside, Oregon

“Four Rotarians drove, from Seaside to Salem -
Denny, Stewart, Deb and Trina — how lucky for them!!

District Governor, Dennis Wickham, was closing his year -
And proclaimed that Kristi Halvorson’s governorship is near.

Speakers inspired and educated, Doctors Davis and Keith -
4-Way Test and Servant Leadership helped bolster our belief.

A serious ‘live web-cast’ brought New York’s United Nations -
The banquet brought a comedian, who added laughter to our libations.

We enjoyed meeting new friends and reminiscing with old chums –
When GSE teams presented — the Phillipino’s were the flamboyant ones!

One-hundred and seventy-one flags, adorned the halls -
Yakima Jim came through again, so we didn’t have empty walls.

A flag for each country, shows how ‘International’ Rotary is -
Clearly eradicating polio and promoting world peace is our biz.

Our bright Youth Exchange students, entertain and inspire -
Silly skits to classical music thrill us ‘til it’s time to retire.

Though we shared lots of joy, before we said goodbye -
Remembering Ashley and Tika made us frequently cry.

‘Make Dreams Real’ has been our motto, for nearly a year –
‘The Future of Rotary’s in Your Hands’- our new theme is near.

Fond memories abound – my excitement is clear –
All I can say is “I can’t wait for next year!”

Save the 2010 dates – May 21, 22, 23
Ascend to ‘Mountain Welches’ with my friends and me!!!
