Rotary District 5100 welcomes ten international partners and dignitaries, including Past R.I. President (1986-87) M.A.T. Caparas and Rotary Foundation Trustee Carolyn E. Jones beginning September 18, 2006. The dignitaries arrive this week to participate in the first ever PARTNERS IN SERVICE Symposium on September 23rd,at the Kingstad Center in Beaverton, OR. Past President Caparas, of the Rotary Club of Manila, Philippines assisted in the formation of the Rotary Community Corp. He is a lawyer by profession, and remains active as a past Trusee and Past Chairman of the Rotary Foundation Trustees (1991-92).

Trustee Carolyn E. Jones joined the Rotary Club of Anchorage East in 1987. She is the Past District Governor of RI district 5010. Holding a LL.B from Yale Law School, she practiced law for 31 years as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Alaska as well as a supervising attorney in the same office. Among many other accomplishments, she headed the Rotary “Open World” committee coordinating cooperation between the US and Russia.

Both Past President Caparas and Trustee Jones will be key speakers for the Rotary District 5100 PARTNERS IN SERVICE Symposium. For eleven days the additional eight international partners and World Community Service leaders will be key speakers at local club meetings. Trustee Jones will be the featured speaker at two local club meetings: Wednesday, 9/20/06 at the Gresham Rotary Club, noon, at A Special Place,710 N. Main Avenue, Gresham; and Thursday,9/21/06, noon at the Greater Clark County Rotary Club at the Royal Oaks Country Club, 8917 NE 4th Plain Blvd, Vancouver, WA.
